Protests erupted during BRS working president KT Rama Rao’s rally in Bhainsa town as a group, purportedly followers of Hanuman Deeksha, threw onions and tomatoes and displayed placards against BRS leaders.
They accused Rama Rao of disrespecting sentiments with his remarks on the BJP’s use of Lord Ram’s name for political gains.
Despite the disruption, Rama Rao remained composed, urging his supporters not to retaliate. He questioned the miscreants about Lord Ram’s teachings on attacking others and repeatedly requested police intervention.
The situation escalated momentarily when the miscreants argued with the police but were soon silenced. Although some individuals were reportedly detained, the police have yet to confirm.
Subsequently, tension resurfaced during Rama Rao’s corner meeting at the old check post office junction, where protesters demanded a public apology.
Police swiftly intervened to maintain order, allowing Rama Rao to continue his speech amidst the commotion.
Taking to Twitter, Rama Rao assured supporters of his safety after the incident. He wrote, “Been getting phone calls about my well-being after some BJP goons pelted stones in Bhainsa town at our election campaign meeting. I am perfectly fine and will continue to fight these thugs who can do nothing but spew venom & spread hate in the name of religion. Jai Telangana.”c
