The Mahindra Thar off-road SUV model lineup has received a new Deep Forest Green color, available only on the AX (O) and LX trims. This new paint scheme joins the existing palette that includes Deep Grey, Everest White, Red Rage, Desert Fury, and Stealth Black. Prices for the Thar range start from Rs 11.35 lakh for the base variant and go up to Rs 17.60 lakh for the fully-loaded variant (all ex-showroom). No other changes have been made to its styling, interior, or engine mechanism.
Buyers have two engine options with the Thar: a 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L diesel, producing 152PS with 300Nm and 132PS with 300Nm, respectively. Both engines are available with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options. The SUV’s RWD (rear-wheel drive) version is exclusively available with a 1.5L diesel engine that generates 118PS and 300Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission only.
Meanwhile, the indigenous automaker is preparing to roll out the 5-door Mahindra Thar in the coming months. The model is scheduled for its official unveiling on 15th August 2024. The 5-door Thar will feature slightly different styling and additional features compared to its 3-door counterpart. It will also be a more practical option. Inside, the SUV will have a redesigned dashboard with an integrated 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with the latest Adrenox software and OTA (over-the-air) updates.
Other interior features include a 10.25-inch digital driver display, dashcam, leatherette seat upholstery, and a single-pane powered sunroof reserved for the higher trims. One of the major highlights of the 5-door Mahindra Thar will be its ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology, as confirmed by spy images. Six airbags are also expected to be part of its safety kit. The SUV will offer a 7-seats configuration, featuring two individual seats for rear passengers and a bench seat in the middle row.
