The outgoing YSR Congress government created so much confusion on the AP capital issue that there were several trolls on AP being a capital-less state. The estranged three-capitals plan and no clear plan of action on the shift of capital clearly motivated the public to vote for the Telugu Desam – JSP – BJP alliance that operated with the agenda of Amaravati being the capital of AP.
With the post-election phase starting to settle down and the Kutami preparing to take over the government, Lokesh interacted with a national media channel and he was asked about the capital of AP.
Lokesh was very straightforward with his response as he clearly mentioned that Amaravati is the capital of AP. He said there would be no confusion on this topic and Amaravati would certainly be developed as the one single capital of Andhra Pradesh.
Lokesh categorically explained that while Amaravati will continue to be the capital, there will be focus on decentralized development. He reminded how the TDP government between 2014-19 brought the Kia plant to the backward district of Anantapur and the electronic manufacturing plan to Chittoor.
While Lokesh clearly explained that Amaravati will remain to be the sole capital of AP, there will be equal emphasis on developing all other regions in the state parallelly.
