Indian cinema’s two iconic figures, Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani, have teamed up for a slice-of-life entertainer, Dunki, that tackles the theme of illegal immigration.
The latest reports suggest that “Dunki” is set to make its international debut a day earlier than its previously announced release date of December 22, hitting screens on December 21 in international markets.
Unlike typical Telugu film releases that often feature late-night premieres, the “Dunki” team is planning a full-day release on December 21 to maximize word-of-mouth and excitement.
With Shah Rukh Khan’s immense international popularity and the support of global holidays, “Dunki” is expected to deliver astounding box office numbers during the extended holiday period.
On the other hand, though the makers are contemplating releasing Salaar on December 22, the film’s shooting is still not complete.
While “Dunki” is strategically planned for international success, “Salaar” seems to lack a clear release plan, aiming to only capitalize on the holiday season without considering the fact that Shah Rukh Khan is the real dinosaur in overseas markets.
While Salaar is targetting to capture North but by releasing on the same date as Dunki, they are hampering the film’s prospects in their only overseas market, the USA. Also, it must be remembered that SRK is a different beast in a clash.
