Land Rover takes the wraps off the Defender Octa, a performance-oriented off-road SUV. The carmaker says it’s “the toughest, most capable, and most luxurious model in the unstoppable 4X4 family.” The model is set to make its first public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the second week of July 2024. The new Land Rover Defender Octa will soon make its way to India at a starting price of Rs 2.65 crores. Prices of the Defender Octa Edition One will start from Rs 2.85 crores onwards. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom.
At the heart of this off-road beast is a 4.4L V8 twin-turbo mild hybrid engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The setup delivers a whopping 635PS and up to 800Nm of torque. The SUV is capable of doing 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds and attaining a top speed of 250 km/h. Compared to the Defender 110 V8, the Land Rover Defender Octa has a higher riding position and ground clearance along with enhanced water-wading capacity. Its 40-degree approach angle, 42-degree departure angle, and 29-degree breakover angle further enhance its off-road capabilities.
Moreover, the SUV comes with bespoke 20-inch rims and off-road tires (All-Terrains and Advanced All-Terrain rubber). Land Rover claims that the Defender Octa provides “unparalleled confidence and control on any terrain” with maximum wheel articulation off-road and reduced roll on-road, thanks to its revised suspension that has unique active dampers with separate accumulators and tougher wishbones. The SUV comes with uprated 400mm front brake discs with Brembo calipers and has the fastest steering ratio of any Defender to date.
The Land Rover Defender Octa is one of the highly feature-packed off-roading machines. Some of its key features include an 11.4-inch infotainment system, Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather, khaki interior upholstery, a center console fridge, all-new performance seats with more supportive bolsters and integrated headrests, extended wheel arches, a unique grille design for better under-bonnet airflow, a new rear bumper with a four-exit active exhaust system, and many more.
