Basketball is quite a physically intense game, and 3×3 basketball even more so. It’s widely considered to be the most intense form of basketball, often referred to as a 10 minute sprint. Each team has 3 players each and the game is played on a half-court with one basket and just 10 minutes on the clock.
Players have no margin for error in such a high intensity game and given the lack of ample time, they don’t have room to make a comeback. That’s why it’s important for players to achieve peak performance, but that can often be difficult towards the end of the game, given how physically taxing it is. However, Samsung Netherlands came up with an intelligent solution to help the Dutch 3×3 basketball team perform at their best.
Samsung ShotControl helps improve players’ game significantly
There’s not enough time for players to think and strategize since the game only lasts ten minutes. They have to be absolutely on top of their performance for every second of every minute.
It all comes down to the last three minutes of the game but by then, most players are exhausted and tend to make mistakes as every shot seems heavier. What separates the good teams from the truly great teams is the ability to keep it together in those final few minutes.
To help gain more insights and extract more performance in those crucial minutes, Samsung Netherlands set out to help with Dutch team. It installed ShotControl cameras at a training facility in Amsterdam. These cameras recorded every shot by every player, whether they made the shot or missed it, and other data metrics.
All of the data is then immediately available on the player’s Galaxy Z Fold device so they can quickly figure out during practice what areas of the game they need to improve on. This also provides them with more knowledge during the match and helps improve their understanding of the game and the momentum in those vital last minutes.
Gradual improvements in the small details of their game can stack up and make a big difference in the crucial moments of the game. It goes to show how Samsung’s tech coupled with its advancements in AI have a profound impact on a diverse range of activities.
