Google reveals Pixel 9 Pro ahead of its launch

Google has revealed its upcoming Pixel 9 Pro smartphone ahead of its launch next month. In a teaser on X, Google showed the phone. It also revealed that phone will have deeper integration with its AI software, Gemini.”A phone built for the Gemini era. It can do a lot—even let your old phone down easy,” read the post.

Google will formally launch the new Pixel 9 series on August 13. As pre reports, Google is expected to launch three phone under the series – Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 XL. Google Pixel 9 ProPixel 9 XL are expected to get ultrawide, telephoto camera upgrades.


According to a report by Android Authority, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will feature a triple 50-megapixel rear camera setup with Sony IMX858 sensors. The front-facing camera is also said to be a 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensor designed primarily for rear-facing cameras. Pixel 9 is also expected to get its ultrawide sensor upgrade.

The standard Pixel 9 might see improvements as well, with its ultrawide camera upgraded to the same 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensor used in the Pro models. Additionally, the Pixel 9 will gain an autofocus-enabled front-facing camera, a feature previously exclusive to the Pro models.All three devices are expected to retain the 50-megapixel Samsung GNK sensor for their main cameras, which debuted in the Pixel 8 series.

Google is said to be retaining the controversial infrared thermometer feature in the Pro models, despite its limited practical applications.

The upcoming version of the Pixel Camera app, which should debut alongside the Pixel 9 series, will support 8K video recording at 30 frames per second, although it remains unclear which devices will offer this feature at launch.
