Warangal: Leaders of political parties and the members of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on the sub-categorisation of Scheduled Caste (SC) reservations here in Station Ghanpur, which is an SC-reserved constituency, of Jangaon district on Thursday.
The leaders and members of MRPS celebrated the occasion by distributing sweets, describing the verdict as “historic”. They said that members of the SC community have been fighting for the sub-categorisation for the past 30 years, demanding the classification of SCs into a, b, c and d categories based on their sub-castes and population. “Now the people from all SC castes can equally access the employment and education opportunities and this classification helps them develop economically,” they explained.
In a media statement, the Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari said the SC community have been waiting for the sub-categorisation for the last three decades and their dream has come true with the Supreme Court’s verdict. He thanked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for taking up initiative to secure an early judgment from the apex court.
The BJP SC Morcha district unit president Pasula Ashok said this was the victory of the Madiga community and it now benefits the SC communities across the country. He dedicated the judgment to the martyrs who lost their lives fighting for the cause of SC sub-categorisation. Ashok profoundly thanked the MRPS founder president Manda Krishna Madiga for leading the movement for 30 years and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar for extending their cooperation in achieving the verdict.
The former deputy chief minister Dr Thatikonda Rajaiah congratulated the people of the SC community on this occasion and thanked the Supreme Court judges for delivering such a historic verdict by showing a great understanding of the conditions of the SC people.
