The Citroen Basalt coupe SUV has finally gone on sale in India at an introductory price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The booking window is now open, and interested buyers can book the vehicle with a token sum of Rs 11,001. It should be noted that these are introductory prices, applicable until 31st October 2024. The Basalt is available in five monotone and two dual-tone color options: Polar White, Platinum Grey, Steel Grey, Garnet Red, Cosmo Blue, Polar White with a Platinum Grey roof, and Garnet Red with a Pearl Nera Black roof.
The engine setup of the new Citroen SUV coupe consists of two options: a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.2L turbo petrol engine. The naturally aspirated motor, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, delivers a claimed power of 82bhp and 115Nm of torque. The turbo-petrol unit can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Its power and torque figures are 110bhp and 190Nm (MT)/205Nm (AT), respectively.
In terms of features, the Citroen Basalt lacks some important elements such as cruise control, a sunroof, and an auto-dimming IRVM. However, it does offer a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents, auto climate control, semi-leatherette seats, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. On the safety front, it includes six airbags, a rear parking camera, electronic stability control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Interestingly, the Basalt is the first vehicle in its segment to offer adjustable thigh support for the rear seat passengers. The overall length, width, and height of the SUV coupe are 4,252mm, 1,765mm, and 1,593mm, respectively. It has a wheelbase of 2,651mm and a ground clearance of 180mm. The new Citroen offering comes with a boot space of 470 liters.
