Suzuki has stopped the production and dispatches of Jimnys and Invicto for the Indian market, is what I was told.

Finally drove home a granite grey Alpha AT yesterday.
As I have shared before, these last 10 days have been quite an experience.
The finale:
I reached the dealership at 9 in the morning, drove to the stockyard with the sales rep, and did a complete PDI of the car, to the best of my ability.
The car had run 32 km most of which was inside the manufacturing plant as they are brought to the stockyard in trucks. I requested the sales rep to drive the car from the stockyard to the dealership myself. He agreed and I drove the car to the dealership which is 14 km away. Handed the car to the sales rep right before we reached the dealership as per his request. Then on starting the documentation, their backend systems stopped responding, apparently because of it being the last day of the month and the discounts ending. So I waited from around 11:30 to 6:30 in the evening.
Insurance was from ICICI with all the requested ad-ons:
- Zero dep
- Engine cover
- Key replacement
- Return to invoice
- Consumables
Cost me 35,228.
Wanted a fastag from Kotak as it has auto debit from my bank account available and it has been working seamlessly on my Jeep Compass, but they had already issued one from ICICI.
The total cost came to be 13.29 Lakhs on the road along with 18k worth of complimentary accessories. Not a bad deal at all. By the time I was to leave, it rained quite heavily in Gurgaon and Delhi so the roads had turned to rivers. Didn’t really want to test the water-wading capacities of the car on Day 1 as I am not really acquainted with her yet and I have never owned an automatic before. Also honestly after reading the recent saga of a fellow bhpians absurd arrest for simply driving across a water-logged road, I was also nervous to do so. So a 30-minute route took 3 hours but I wasn’t really complaining.
Apart from a few niggles, I love the car.
Niggles :
- The gear console should have been blacklight.
- The footwell area is quite cramped.
- The notorious thud of the rear suspension caught me off guard even though I have read of it.
- I love heavy steerings but this one will take some getting used to. My wife definitely won’t be thrilled about it. Although she was okay with it on the Test Drive.
- The seat isn’t the most comfortable or maybe I am just spoiled by the Compass which I find to be perfectly suited for my build.
- I have driven the car for around 50 km and some of it on an expressway and I know already that this isn’t a mile muncher like the Compass. I know it’s an unfair comparison. Apples and oranges but that being said miles will be munched on this baby.
Went alone as I knew it would be a long day no one but me would have the patience for it. The home ministry wanted an EV to replace our beater Honda Brio anyway and since I vetoed that proposition I am getting cold shoulders. Hopefully, they will warm up soon.

The sales manager informed me that they are not sure what would happen to this discount but they have been told not to offer it anymore. Also, Suzuki has stopped the production and dispatches of Jimnys and Invicto for the Indian market, is what I was told. They are only going to sell the Jimnys that they have in stock. Without the discount, I don’t see how that is going to happen.
