The Kia EV9, the three-row electric SUV from the South Korean automaker, is set to go on sale in India on 3rd October 2024. It will be the brand’s flagship electric offering and will be imported via the CBU (Completely Built Up) route. The 7-seater EV is based on the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) architecture and features Kia’s latest battery technology. While the specifications of the India-spec EV9 are yet to be revealed, globally it’s offered with three powertrains: a single-motor RWD with a 76.1kWh battery, a 99.8kWh battery, and a dual-motor RWD variant. The EV’s dual-motor RWD version offers a combined power of 379bhp and a range of around 450km. The entry-level variant promises a range of 358km with the smaller battery and 541km with the larger battery pack. The global-spec version of the EV9 supports both fixed and portable charging, along with the ability to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes via a fast charger. With this setup, it can be charged for a 248km range in just 15 minutes. The 7-seater electric SUV also comes with the V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality via its integrated charging control unit.
The upcoming Kia EV9 is a feature-packed machine. It comes with the Level 3 ADAS suite, a 12.3-inch driver display screen, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and navigation, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, a 5.3-inch climate control screen, fingerprint recognition, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, C-Type USB ports, and OTA (over-the-air) updates.
The electric 7-seater SUV has a flexible seating arrangement with 60:40 split remote folding second-row seats featuring a swivel function and headrests, 50:50 split remote folding third-row seats with headrests, and heated and ventilated front and second-row seats. It offers USB charging for all passengers. Features such as three-zone climate control, regenerative braking paddle shifters, an automatic defogger, and a height-adjustable smart power tailgate add to its comfort quotient.
