In August 2024, Maruti Suzuki India registered total sales of 1,81,782 units, compared to 1,89,082 units in the corresponding month last year, marking a 4 percent YoY decline. While the utility vehicles (including the Fronx, Brezza, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, Invicto, and XL6) recorded decent sales growth, the compact and small car segments witnessed a significant decline. In response to the dipping sales of small cars, the Indo-Japanese automaker has reduced the prices of the Maruti Alto K10 and S-Presso models. Both hatchbacks are sold through the brand’s Arena dealerships.
The price of the Maruti Alto K10 VXi petrol variant has been reduced by Rs 6,500, while the Maruti S-Presso LXi petrol variant has become more affordable by Rs 2,000. It’s important to note that the price reduction is applicable only to these specific variants. Currently, the Alto K10 model lineup is available within the price range of Rs 3.99 lakh – Rs 5.80 lakh, and the S-Presso is priced between Rs 4.26 lakh – Rs 5.95 lakh. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom.
Talking about Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming products, the carmaker is set to launch the new-generation Dzire compact sedan in October. The new model will share its platform, powertrain, design elements, and features with the Swift. The next-gen Dzire will be followed by Maruti Suzuki’s first-ever electric car, the eVX, which is slated to go on sale in early 2025. The EV is reported to be offered with two battery packs and is expected to deliver a range of around 550km. The carmaker’s Hansalpur facility will serve as the production hub for the Maruti eVX.
The Indo-Japanese automaker will also expand its hybrid product portfolio with a range of new models. Additionally, the company is working on its own strong hybrid technology, which will be used in its mass-market products. The Fronx facelift, set to go on sale in 2025, will be the first model to feature Maruti Suzuki’s HEV strong hybrid powertrain.
