MG Windsor EV prices have finally been revealed for the Indian market. The electric MPV is offered in three trims – Excite, Exclusive and Essence – priced from Rs 9.99 lakh onwards. One must note that the mentioned prices are introductory, ex-showroom India. It’s the third electric offering from MG and the first model to come under MG and JSW partnership. The carmaker has confirmed that the Windsor EV bookings will start on 3rd October and deliveries will begin from 13th October, 2024.
The electric MPV can be had on a rental basis – Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), under which buyers have to pay a minimal amount of Rs 3.5 per kilometre driven. Buyers can choose from four color options: Starburst Black, Turquoise Green, Clay Beige, and Pearl White. Dimensionally, the new MG EV measures 4.3 metres in length and has a wheelbase of 2,700mm, with a 5-seat layout.
The Windsor EV is being offered with a 38kWh battery pack with prismatic cells and a front axle mounted motor. The e-motor delivers a claimed power of 136bhp and a maximum torque of 200Nm. The new MG electric MPV promises a range of 331km on a full charge. The battery pack comes with a lifetime warranty with unlimited kilometres for first buyers. Interestingly, buyers also get free public charging for the first one year of their purchase. The EV offers four driving modes – Eco, Eco+, Normal and Sport. Feature-wise, the new MG Windsor EV is well-equipped. It has a black interior theme with wooden inserts and includes features such as a 15.6-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital color driver’s display, a floating center console with three cupholders, a two-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, a fixed panoramic glass roof, wireless phone charging, an eight-speaker sound system with a subwoofer, and a front center armrest.
The Windsor EV comes with electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, as well as faux leather rear seats with large honeycomb-pattern stitching. The rear seats can recline up to 135 degrees. To enhance rear passenger comfort, the carmaker provides a rear center armrest, a three-passenger rear seat with dedicated three-point seat belts for all, and rear AC vents.
For safety provision, the MG Windsor EV offers six airbags, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a blind spot monitoring system, an electronically controlled parking brake, and all four disc brakes.
Touted as an ‘Intelligent CUV,’ the Windsor EV is said to combine “the comfort of a sedan and the expanse of an SUV.” Some of its key design features include a split headlamp setup, a front fender-mounted charging port, LED DRLs connected by a light bar, front door-mounted ORVMs, blacked-out B-, C-, and D-pillars, flush-fitting door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels, and L-shaped LED taillamps.
