Upcoming Ather Electric Bike To Be Based On New Zenith Platform

The latest buzz in the electric two-wheeler segment comes from Ather Electric. The Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer is working on two new electric two-wheeler platforms – Zenith and EL. While the former will be used for the brand’s upcoming electric motorcycles, the latter will underpin future Ather e-scooters.

The Zenith architecture will be designed to support e-bikes that will compete with motorcycles ranging from 125cc to 300cc in terms of pricing. The EL platform will be used for multiple cost-effective Ather scooters, tailored to meet both domestic and global market requirements.

Products based on Ather’s new electric platforms will be produced at the company’s upcoming facility in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Manufacturing will begin in phases starting from May 2026. Currently, Ather has two production plants located in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with a total capacity of 4.2 lakh units annually. The launch timeline for the upcoming Ather electric bikes and new scooters is yet to be revealed.

Details are scarce at this point in time, but speculations suggest that the EV two-wheeler maker might launch an electric bike with a smaller battery capacity, targeting the mass market. The model is likely to compete with the Hero Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider 125. Ather’s electric bike with a bigger battery might arrive at a later stage. In terms of pricing, it is expected to compete with ICE-powered bikes ranging between 150cc and 300cc.
