The Indo-Japanese automaker is planning a major update for the Fronx in the form of its own strong hybrid powertrain. According to media reports, Maruti Suzuki is working on an in-house series hybrid powertrainwhich will be used for its mass-segment vehicles, including the Fronx, Swift, Brezza, and Baleno. Codenamed HEV, the brand’s strong hybrid technology is expected to be more affordable than Toyota’s series-parallel hybrid system, which powers the Grand Vitara and Invicto.

The new Maruti Fronx, slated to go on sale in 2025, will feature the Swift’s new Z12E engine coupled with strong hybrid technology. Minor updates are expected for its exterior and interior, and the carmaker may equip it with a few additional features. With the strong hybrid tech, the Fronx facelift will become more fuel-efficient but also more expensive.

More details on Maruti Suzuki’s strong hybrid system will be revealed in the near future. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
