Samsung to bring back GIF creator after removing it with One UI 6.1.1 update

This month, Samsung released the One UI 6.1.1 update to several high-end smartphones, including the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S24. The update was also released to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 as well. The new update brought several new features but also removed one fun and useful feature, GIF Creator. The company has now announced it will bring back that feature soon.

GIF Creator to come back to Samsung phones and tablets

After the GIF Creator option was removed from Smart Select on Samsung phones with the One UI 6.1.1 update, many people were unhappy with Samsung’s move. After hearing consumer feedback, Samsung’s official forum moderator revealed (via @theonecid) that the company is planning to bring back the feature with a future update. They said the feature would return by the end of September or early October this year.

Apparently, Samsung was trying to improve the overall structure by bringing Galaxy AI-powered features to the top. So, the company had to remove the GIF Creator feature. The company tried to make it easier to access the feature, but it couldn’t bring it in time, so it didn’t bring the feature with the One UI 6.1.1 update.

Since the company changed the structure of the Smart Select feature, it was difficult for it to keep the GIF Creator feature as it was. Hopefully, it will be able to bring back the feature in a way that is easier to access and use than the previous method.
