My first car – Honda City Automatic: An all-rounder & reliable sedan

My first car – Honda City Automatic: An all-rounder & reliable sedan BHPian Corbettcub recently shared this with other enthusiasts: Hello Everyone, This is my first post on Team BHP about my first car. Diving straight to the purchase process, here goes my experience – Why new vehicle – I am your regular 9-5 service class individual working in Mumbai. To be honest, I do not NEED a car. But this decision came out of a WANT. A “want” to own my car before I turn 30. This plus the oncoming wrath of electric vehicles made me push through the decision of owning one. Requirements – Has to be a sedan. PERIOD! Automatic Petrol Reliability. Fill it, shut it, Forget it. Cars Considered – To be honest, I considered only two sedans, Virtus & City. I was more inclined to Virtus since our family owns 4th Gen City I-vtec Manual. Hence, I wanted to go for a change. Change in ownership experience, driving and even as basic as plain ergonomics Virtus: The car looks elegant & sophisticated. Grabs no unnecessary attention. When I visited the showroom I could make out the differences in the plastic quality since my brother owns a Vento. However, I am not complaining about this. The look and feel of the car is fresh, is spacious and I found this very engaging to drive. I was clear that if I own this vehicle, it has to be the GT variant. I waited for a month and test drove the manual variant. Honestly, I cannot forget the kickback when I pushed open the throttle. It has got that personality of transforming its good boy image into a MMA fighter if required. The question now is, if I like the Virtus GT so much why didn’t I go for this vehicle? Reliability and Automatic Gearbox concerns. I might have been overthinking during my purchase but I wanted a car with bullet proof reliability. Virtus might be that car for VW but it still got to prove this over a period of time. The next obvious choice for me was the City 5th Gen City: I would not be drawing comparisons between 4th & 5th Gen. Both are brilliant in their own way. Both belong to the same brand and both has got its own bunch of lovers. Do I like the 5th Gen? Well, YES! After having owned the 4th gen (family) for over 8 years, I still couldn’t find a better all-rounder sedan than the city even today. Reliable, comfortable and a proven product. So, the head wins over the heart and here comes home my daily drive – Honda City ZX CVT Purchase Experience – I wanted to make the first trip of my vehicle to Jagannath Puri Temple. Hence, I decided to purchase the vehicle from Central Honda from Bhubaneshwar. The team coordinated perfectly and the delivery happened as promised. We also got a good deal on the purchase. I took the delivery of the car in the month of May-24, and as said before the first visit of the car happened to Jagannath Puri Temple Experience so far – It’s been around 4 months and I have driven the car for around 8000 kms. This includes two road trips, the details of which I shall be mentioning about in the next post Soon after my purchase, I took two road trips. One from Puri to Mumbai and another from Mumbai to Dwarka and back. Overall the experience has been superb till date. I am happy with my purchase and look forward to road trips and driving safe.
