The Indian automobile market has been witnessing a constant increase in EV sales, thanks to new product launches, technological advancements, and government incentives. This sales graph is likely to rise by 66 percent by the end of this year, and EVs’ share in total passenger car sales is expected to increase twofold. Considering the growing business in the EV space, India’s top four OEMs, including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, and Mahindra, are set to introduce new models in 2025. Let’s take a look at the key details of these four upcoming major EVs.

The all-new Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV will make its global debut at next year’s Bharat Mobility Expo in January. Its market launch is likely to take place in early 2025. The model will measure around 4.3 meters in length and feature a closed-off grille, an upright nose, a flat bonnet, and large headlamps at the front. It will have squarish wheel arches, muscular shoulder creases, and a coupe SUV-like roofline, as seen in the concept. The Maruti eVX is reported to come with a 60kWh battery and an electric motor, promising a range of nearly 500 km on a full charge.

2024 Hyundai Creta Rear Design

The Hyundai Creta EV will be the first “high-volume” mass-market electric offering from the South Korean automaker in India. The EV is set to launch in January 2025. Its powertrain setup will likely consist of a 45kWh battery and an electric motor producing 138bhp and 255Nm of torque. The Creta EV’s range could be around 350 km to 400 km. Design elements such as a closed-off grille, revised bumpers, and new alloys will differentiate it from its ICE counterpart.

Tata Harrier EV specs

After the Curvv EV, the Harrier EV will be the next electric model to go on sale from Tata. The SUV’s electric iteration is currently in its testing phase and is expected to arrive by March 2025. It will have two electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles with an AWD (all-wheel drive) setup. The Tata Harrier EV is expected to come with a 60kWh battery and deliver a range of around 500 km. The EV will support both vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionalities.

Mahindra XUV.e8

The Mahindra XUV.e8, the electric version of the XUV700 SUV, is set to hit roads in December 2024. It will be the first Mahindra EV to be based on the brand’s born-electric INGLO architecture. The electric SUV is expected to feature a battery ranging between 60-80kWh, delivering power between 230bhp and 350bhp. The new Mahindra electric SUV might offer a range of 400 km to 450 km. Its exterior design will be slightly different from its ICE-powered version, the XUV700, and a few EV-specific updates will also be made to the cabin.
