The BYD eMax 7 electric MPV is the latest offering from the Chinese EV manufacturer in India. The model lineup comes in two variants – Premium and Superior – priced at Rs 26.90 lakh (6-seater), Rs 27.50 lakh (7-seater) and Rs 29.23 lakh (6-seater) and 29.90 lakh (7-seater), respectively. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom, India.
The eMax 7 is essentially the successor to the BYD e6, with an improved design and additional features. It’s the first 6- and 7-seater electric MPV in the country. According to the carmaker, it has been “designed to cater to the progressive and eco-conscious family, revolutionizing family mobility.”
Both the Superior and Premium trims are equipped with BYD’s Blade Battery Technology and an 8-in-1 electric powertrain system, which includes eight components: motor, motor controller, reducer, on-board charger, high-voltage distribution box, DC converter, battery management system, and vehicle controller.
The Superior variant comes with a 71.8kWh battery pack, offering a range of 530 km (NEDC – New European Driving Cycle tested). It is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 8.6 seconds. The Premium trim, on the other hand, features a 55.4kWh battery, providing a NEDC-certified range of 420 km on a single charge. This variant can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 10.1 seconds. The electric MPV also includes advanced technologies such as regenerative braking and VTOL (vehicle-to-load) functionality.
BYD India offers a warranty of 8 years or 160,000 kilometers (whichever comes first) on the traction battery, motor, and motor controller. The DC assembly, high-voltage electric control assembly, and on-board charger (OBC) come with a warranty of 6 years or 150,000 kilometers.
The electric MPV has a 2,800 mm long wheelbase, ensuring a spacious cabin and a comfortable ride. Its overall length, width and height stand at 4,710mm, 1,810mm and 1,690mm, respectively. The BYD eMax 7 Superior and Premium variants are available in both 6- and 7-seat configurations.
The new BYD electric MPV features a dual-tone Black and Brown interior theme, along with a host of features such as a 12.8-inch rotatable infotainment display, a 5-inch advanced instrument cluster, advanced gear shifter, front ventilated seats, wireless phone charger, a large 1.41 sqm panoramic glass roof with electric shade, a 6-speaker sound system, PM 2.5 filtration system, electric trunk opening, voice assistance, keyless entry, one-touch up and down with anti-pinch for all four windows, automatic AC, NFC car key, two Type A and two Type C charging ports for the first two rows, 6-wau adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way adjustable front passenger seat, crystal diamond floating LED headlamps, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The safety kit of the BYD eMax 7 includes 6 airbags (standard), ABS, EBD, EPF, and an ADAS suite. The second-row seats have a 60:40 split ratio, and the foldable third-row seats create 580 liters of boot space. The new BYD electric MPV comes in four exterior color options – Harbour Grey, Cosmos Black, Quartz Blue, and Crystal White.
