What’s about?
“Janaka Aithe Ganaka” follows the story of Prasad (Suhas), a middle-class man living a seemingly blissful life with his wife (Sangeerthana Vipin). Prasad’s world takes an unexpected turn when he makes a decision: he doesn’t want children.
Despite taking all necessary precautions, fate has other plans, and Prasad finds himself facing the unforeseen reality of his wife’s pregnancy.
The film delves into the challenges faced by Prasad and his lawyer friend Patti Kishore (Vennela Kishore) during their lawsuit against NJoy, a condom company.
Analysis
Director Sandeep Reddy Bandla aimed to raise pertinent questions about societal pressures about parenthood. The film begins with a promising premise, highlighting the protagonist’s anxieties due to rising costs and presenting a relatable struggle. The interval twist adds an element of intrigue, making the first half a decent watch.
However, “Janaka Aithe Ganaka” ultimately falls short of its potential.
The courtroom proceedings, intended to be the crux of the narrative, become monotonous and silly, testing the patience of the viewers. The courtroom arguments feel forced and unrealistic, reducing the characters to a caricature.
The story falters, becoming predictable and lacking in depth.
Suhas delivers a neat performance as Prasad. Suhas’s natural and realistic mannerisms, coupled with his effortless dialogue delivery, are a plus. Sangeerthana Vipin plays Prasad’s wife in a typical manner. Despite her limited screen presence, she looks charming.
Vennela Kishore brings his signature comedic timing to the role of Prasad’s friend, delivering laughs with his witty performance. He shines among all the actors. Murali Sharma and Rajendra Prasad appear in crucial roles.
While Vijay Bulganin’s background music is decent, the songs are unremarkable and fail to leave a lasting impression. Production values are passable but lack the polish and finesse.
Bottom line: Despite an intriguing premise and some fun moments, “Janaka Aithe Ganaka” loses steam in the middle, failing to maintain its initial momentum. After a point, it becomes more silly than witty.
