I learned a lot about bikes and the 390 in the 4 years of ownership.
BHPian Dhruv Shetty recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
Just a small update before the engine & brake rebuild.
Here is the expenses on the Duke since I have purchased it, the expenses is on the high side and wondering why am I spending so much, but hey it was a derelict Duke 390 which needed saving, I got the motivation from a German guy who fixes derelict and broken BMWs, worth every penny. I learned a lot about bikes and the 390 in the 4 years of ownership. On the engine rebuild front, the guys at Zenngine are waiting on the Mumbai rains to subside and till then the main parts are put on order like the block piston and crankshaft.
The parts which are marked in yellow in the sheet means it was big expense and labor intense job and lot of parts involved.
2020
The first year i was maintaining the bike purely on pocket money as i just graduated from Mumbai university.
2021
Here a big expense cropped & had my first accident in the first month during a breakfast ride, which was the ABS motor which happened a week before joining my first job in a corporate company and got it fixed somewhere in September when i collected enough funds. From here the never-ending expenditures starts .
2022
Mostly general servicing and few parts getting changed, nothing intense.
2023
Two major repairs took place in 2023
2024
For now it may look less, but soon it is going to shoot up by a huge margin
Total from 2020 – 2024
By the looks of it, I’m spending close to superbike level of expenses or close.
Next post will be on the engine & brakes, end of September or start of October.
Until next time
Cheers,
Dhruv Shetty.
