Hyundai Motor India is gearing up to unveil the updated i20 premium hatchback just in time for the 2023 festive season, although the exact launch date is yet to be confirmed. A new official teaser has recently been released, hinting at the impending arrival of the refreshed model. The teaser image reveals subtle changes to the front grille and new headlamps, now featuring repositioned LED daytime running lights (DRLs). Expect more details to be unveiled in the coming weeks.
The India-spec 2023 Hyundai i20 is likely to draw inspiration from the Europe-spec i20 faceliftsharing most of its design elements. Anticipate newly-designed alloy wheels and a potentially revised rear section with Z-shaped LED inserts in the taillamps. There may also be some enticing new color options, complementing the existing seven paint choices, including Polar White, Starry Night, Titan Grey, Typhoon Silver, Fiery Red, Polar White with a black roof, and Fiery Red with a Black roof.
Inside the cabin, minimal upgrades are expected. The new Hyundai i20 might feature a fresh theme and upholstery. Similar to its exterior counterpart, the hatchback could introduce convenient additions like a dashcam and noteworthy features such as an ambient lighting system, ventilated front seats, and a comprehensive safety package including six standard airbags. Staying true to its tech-savvy reputation, the 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift is set to offer a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, connected car technology, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, and cruise control.
Under the hood, the powertrain lineup is expected to remain unchanged. The new Hyundai i20 will continue to offer the 1.2L naturally aspirated engine, producing 83bhp with 114Nm of torque, and the 1.0L turbo petrol engine, delivering 120bhp and 172Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual, 7-speed DCT automatic, and CVT automatic gearboxes, catering to various driving preferences.
