NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi was at his brutal best on Saturday as the left-handed seamer got rid of star India batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in his opening burst in the blockbuster Asia Cup Group A clash in Pallekele.
In overcast, bowling friendly conditions, Shaheen delivered up front for his side, dismissing the India skipper and Kohli for lowly scores of 11 and 4 in the high-profile contest.
After India got off to a decent start, rain interruption paused the game for a while and soon after play resumed, Shaheen knocked over Rohit with a peach that angled back in sharply after pitching and hit Rohit’s off stump.
In his next over, Shaheen once again got the ball to swing back in, this time to Kohli, who got the inside edge and the ball crashed onto his stumps.
