Former India fast bowler Jawagal Srinath will set a record in the match against Nepal. He will play his role in the 250th match as a match official. He will be the fourth ICC match official to do so after Srinath Madugale, Chris Broad and Jeff Crowe.
Javagal Srinath shocked the cricket world in 2023. After that he joined the role of match referee from ICC. Since then, he has played the role of referee in 249 matches. This will be the 250th match between India and Nepal.
Srinath has expressed happiness after achieving such a big milestone. “It feels good to reach such a milestone as a match official. I have completed 17 years in this job. I can’t believe that I have played this role for more ODIs than I have played so far.”
“I have had the privilege of being with the game even after retirement. I played the role of match referee for the first time in Colombo in 2006 in a Test match against Sri Lanka against South Africa. It has been a really great journey so far. I will try to do better in the coming year,” added Srinath.
Srinath first played the role of ICC match official in 2006. Played the match referee in ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, ICC Champions Trophy 2009 and 2013, ICC T20 World Cup (2012, 2014, 2016 and 2021).
Javagal Srinath has played the role of match referee in 65 Tests, 118 Men’s T20 Internationals and 16 Women’s T20 Internationals.
Javagal Srinath has scored 236 in 67 Tests and 315 in 219 ODIs for India.
