UAE Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi, NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 Return to Earth After Historic Mission

Jacksonville: NASA‘s SpaceX Crew-6 has returned safely to Earth after a six-month-long historic mission. Amongst the crew is one of the first astronauts from UAE – Sultan Al Neyad. All four members of the crew landed safely near the coast of Jacksonville, Florida.
NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 was the sixth commercial crew rotation mission to the International Space Station. On board were NASA astronauts Stephen Bowen and Woody Hoburg, UAE astronaut Sultan Alneyadi and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev.

As per the official statement issued by NASA, the four astronauts travelled 78,875,292 miles during their mission, spent 184 days aboard the space station, and completed 2,976 orbits around Earth. Crew-6 returns comes after the launch of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-7 on August 27, 2023.

With his return, UAE Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi made history by becoming the first Arab to serve on the International Space Station. He is also the first Arab astronaut to perform a spacewalk.

President Sheikh Mohammed of the United Arab Emirates congratulated the Emirati astronaut upon his safe return. “Sultan Al Neyadi, the people of the UAE are immensely proud of you and the entire team for achieving major advances in space exploration,” stated President Sheikh Mohamed on X, formerly Twitter.

“You carried the dreams of a nation to new frontiers, and we celebrate your pioneering journey and safe return,” the President added further.

During his tenure at the International Space Station, Dr. Al Neyadi carried out over 200 science experiments aboard the orbiting outpost, including the assignements given by NASA and UAE.
