A schoolboy, woman and a man were rushed to hospital after suffering ‘serious’ injuries when a ‘Pitbull type’ dog attacked them in a back garden.

The savage attack took place on Farfield Road in Huddersfield, Yorkshire on Monday afternoon.

The boy, aged 10, received a ‘serious’ bite injury while the woman was bitten on the hand, and the man on the leg.

Police managed to get the ‘family pet’, under control before it was seized.

Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

A spokesperson for the Kirklees District said: ‘Police were called by the ambulance service to Farfield Road, Huddersfield at 12:49pm on September 4, to a report a dog had bitten persons in the back garden of a property.

‘Officers attended the address at which an adult woman had received a bite wound to a hand and a man had received a serious bite wound to his leg. A child present had also received a serious bite injury.

‘Parties were taken to hospital for treatment to the injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

‘The dog was secure at the property and has been seized.’

Enquiries by West Yorksihre Police are ongoing.
