The highly-anticipated The Nun II has finally arrived in theatres. The American gothic supernatural horror movie has been directed by Michael Chaves and is penned by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and Akela Cooper. The film is a direct sequel to The Nun (2018) and is the ninth entry in The Conjuring Universe series.
Starring the OG cast of Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, and Bonnie Aarons, the film features an addition of Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell.
The reviews of the film have been surfacing on the internet and they are extremely mixed. One user detailed their experience of watching The Nun 2 and said, “’The Nun II’ shares a similar issue with some of the other spin-offs in this franchise: not enough of its titular character and too manufactured.”
“The characters aren’t compelling but they function as vehicles for the screenplay to string together jumpscare sequences, no matter how ludicrous. There would be a scene where a character follows an obviously demonic entity for no logical reason just for a lacklustre “boo, gotcha” to occur only for the cycle to repeat. The first hour is relatively boring, a lot of wheel-spinning as we watch the plot happen without much investment into why.”
Nun 2: My Review 3½ on 5
.
Nothing groundbreaking but a solid fun time.
.
10 times better than the first part and way better than the travesty called Conjuring 3.

The review further read, “Eventually, a revelation is made about halfway through that’s so hilarious that I got into the film a bit, though it does quickly back to the same tired schtick. Thankfully, however, with about twenty or so minutes to go, it boiled over into a wacky haunted house flick where I was finally having some fun. It isn’t enough to save the movie nor make the wait fully worth it.”
The Nun 2 successfully make a massive downgrade for Conjuring Universe

It concluded, “But it’s the kind of “what the fuck haha” content you would expect from Aleka Cooper, co-writer of ‘Malignant’. I wish that type of stuff was the entire movie because I was laughing and had a smile on my face. Alas, ‘The Nun II’ unfortunately feels like another addition to the pile, not awful and sometimes simply watchable but doesn’t do enough as a whole to stand out amongst the crowd.”
Another review read, “just got out of the theatre. i love this whole universe. and i love this character a lot. the story is good. it’s enough. all i wanted was a bit more action throughout the middle of the film. and more of just the nun at the end. I did like this though.”
“And I will come back and watch a third and whatever else this universe comes out with. I just needed a bit more of her cause when we got her it was so good. That magazine stand scene was so creative and cool. Also let’s go back to horror movies where we kill like everyone lol. But yes I liked it and will probably watch again.”
