The counting of votes for the by-election of village heads in City and Kon development blocks, including District Panchayat members of Rajgarh development block of Mirzapur district, took place on Friday. SP’s candidate for the post of district panchayat member Sheel Kumari was declared victorious by 439 votes in ward number three in Rajgarh development block. In the counting of votes amid tight security arrangements, the main post candidate Pooja Devi won by 115 votes in Kharhara of City Development Block. In Rampur of Kon development block, Nisha Devi defeated her rival Rajkumari for the post of village head by 142 votes. By-elections were held in both the villages after the death of the Pradhan. The concerned ROs gave the victory certificates to the victorious candidates.
