IIT-Bombay Placements | Students who are studying in leading educational institutes starting from IITs and IIMs are recruited by corporate organizations through campus selections. The recent placement drive at IIT-Bombay set records. An international company offered a maximum annual salary package of Rs 3.7 crore to a graduate student, while a domestic company got a salary package of Rs 1.7 crore.
Last year, the international company offered a maximum salary package of Rs 2.1 crore, while the national company offered Rs 1.8 crore. While the international wage package has increased significantly, the domestic package has decreased marginally. Engineering and technology sector companies have hired the most with an average pay package compared to last year. IT and software recruitments have declined.
The recruitments for 2022-23 recruitments were made with slightly higher pay packages as compared to 2020-21 and 2021-22. In 2020-21, the average salary package is Rs.17.9 lakh and in 2021-22, Rs.21.5 lakh package, this time the companies have offered a salary package of Rs.21.8 lakh. 97 engineering companies hired 458 employees for entry-level jobs.
This year 16 graduates will get offers with a salary package of over Rs. A total of 300 students have received pre-placement offers. A total of 194 students accepted offers including 65 international offers. International offers are less compared to last year.
In the wake of Russia’s war on Ukraine, recruitment has stalled like last year. However, institutions in America, Japan, Britain, Netherlands, Hong Kong and Taiwan have made offers to students.
About 90 percent of the participants in the placement drive among the B.Tech, Dual Degree and M.Tech students got jobs. In 2022-23, out of 1845 students overall, 1516 (82 per cent) got jobs. Only 31 percent of PhD students got jobs. Placements in IITs are done in two phases. Placements drive will be conducted in the months of December/ January, June and July.
