NEW DELHI: India’s batting maestro Virat Kohli and the returning KL Rahul delivered an extraordinary performance and secured a resounding 228-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday.
Kohli, who scored a brilliant 122*, and Rahul, with an impressive 111*, orchestrated a formidable partnership of 233 runs, propelling India to a mammoth 356 for 2.
In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for a mere 128 runs in the 50-over contest.This monumental win marked India’s most significant triumph over Pakistan in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

WON BY 228 RUNS (COLOMBO), 2023:
India secured a commanding 228-run victory over Pakistan in a one-sided Asia Cup Super Four clash held in Colombo. During this match, Virat Kohli surpassed the remarkable milestone of 13,000 runs in one-day internationals while notching up his 47th century. The Indian run-machine remained unbeaten on 122, while Rahul, making a return from injury, also notched up a century. He scored 111 not out.

Chasing a gigantic 357, Pakistan’s batsmen struggled to find their rhythm and managed to score only 128 runs, with Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf sidelined due to injuries. This was India’s biggest win over arch-rivals Pakistan in ODIs.
India’s Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav delivered an outstanding performance, taking five wickets for just 25 runs. Virat was awarded Man of the Match.

Opting to bat first, MS Dhoni-led India launched the attack from the word go. Their top three batsmen – Gautam Gambhir (62), Virender Sehwag (89), and Yuvraj Singh (55) – each notched up half-centuries. India amassed a colossal total of 330/8 in their designated 50 overs.

In response, the bowling duo of Piyush Chawla and Praveen Kumar captured eight wickets between them, causing Pakistan to collapse at a mere 190 runs.
This resounding performance led India to a convincing 140-run victory over the Green Shirts.
WON BY 124 RUNS (BIRMINGHAM), 2017:
Sent in to bat, India, rode on impressive half-centuries from Rohit Sharma (91), Shikhar Dhawan (68), Virat Kohli (81 not out), and Yuvraj Singh (53) and amassed a mammoth 319/3 in 48 overs in Birmingham.
