Kohli’s ton came against Pakistan, against whom he has scored 640 runs in 15 matches.

Kohli’s partner KL Rahul also scored a century minutes before Kohli got there. Riding on Kohli and Rahul’s hundreds, India crossed the 300-run mark against Pakistan.

The India vs Pakistan Super 4 match resumed on Monday after rain on Sunday had forced the game to be played on the reserve day. India reached 147 for two in 24.1 overs on Sunday. Kohli and Rahul were batting on 8 and 17 respectively after openers Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubman Gill (58) struck fine half-centuries.

While the play started one hour 40 minutes later than the scheduled time on Monday as well due to the rain, the game remained 50 overs-a-side contest.

India’s Asia Cup opener against Pakistan was also hampered by rain. The game was called off after the Indian innings. The weather is likely to play havoc in the Sri Lankan capital throughout the Super 4 stage. The Asian Cricket Council’s decision to keep a reserve day only for the India vs Pakistan game and the final, where the two arch-rivals are likely to meet again, also led to an uproar.
