Under the hood, the 2023 Tata Nexon offers an engine lineup comprising a 120PS 1.2L turbo petrol engine and a 115PS 1.5L diesel engine. Transmission choices abound, with a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed DCT.

Turning our attention to the new Tata Nexon EV, this electrifying model range comprises two variants, namely Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR), each boasting three distinctive trims: Creative, Fearless, and Empowered. Each trim offers a unique combination of exterior colors and interior upholstery options, and variants featuring optional packages are denoted by a ‘+’ suffix. The MR variants are equipped with a 30 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of 325 km, while the LR variants feature a larger 40.5 kWh battery pack, offering an extended claimed range of 456 km.

Charging convenience is a priority, with both variants supporting a 7.2 kW AC charger. The MR variant achieves a charging time of 4.3 hours, while the LR variant requires 6 hours for a full charge. For expedited charging on the go, DC fast chargers are readily available, reducing the charging time to 56 minutes.

Powering the new Nexon.ev is the Gen-2 permanent magnet synchronous motor, known for its lighter and more efficient design. The MR variant delivers 129 bhp, while the LR variant boasts an even more commanding 145 bhp. Performance enthusiasts will appreciate the MR variant’s acceleration prowess, capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 8.9 seconds and achieving a top speed of 150 km/h.

In terms of pricing, modest increases are anticipated for both the new Tata Nexon and Nexon.ev. The pre-facelift versions of these models are currently priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 14.60 lakh for the Nexon and Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 16.85 lakh for the Nexon EV. Early speculations suggest that prices may see a slight uptick of approximately Rs 50,000.
