Asia Cup Final: This team will face India if Pakistan-Sri Lanka Super 4 match gets washed out | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The inclement weather has been a subject of hot debate throughout the Sri Lanka leg of the Asia Cup, specially in the Lankan capital Colombo, where rain was predicted during the entire tournament.
After India advanced to the final of the continental event, defeating Sri Lanka in their second Super 4 clash, all eyes were now on who would be facing them in the final. Would it be the much-anticipated India-Pakistan final — their third encounter in the ongoing Asia Cup or would it be someone else?
Having lost both their matches so far, Bangladesh are 4th and are out of contention. The Bangla Tigers play their last game vs India in what will be a dead rubber on Friday.
That makes the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Super 4 clash a virtual semi-final. Both teams are on two points each, however, if the match is washed out, Sri Lanka will qualify for the summit clash owing to a better Net Run Rate.

If the game ends in a No Result due to rain, Sri Lanka will meet India in the final, owing to a better net run rate (-0.200) than that of Pakistan (-1.892).
Pakistan’s NRR took a beating due to their huge 228 run loss vs India which is also now the biggest margin of defeat in terms of runs for the men in green against India.
Incredibly, the largest margin of victory for India against Pakistan in terms of runs before this was 88 runs less – 140 – way back in 2008 in Mirpur.
