The Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4MATIC electric SUV has finally made its way to the Indian market. Interestingly, the brand has chosen to offer only the top-spec model, foregoing the more potent AMG-spec EQE SUV variants. Being a CBU unit, the EQE 500 4MATIC comes with a premium price tag of Rs 1.39 crore, making it a direct rival of the Audi Q8 e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, and BMW iX, priced at Rs 1.14 crore – Rs 1.26 crore, Rs 1.20 crore, and Rs 1.21 crore, respectively. It’s the third electric offering from the luxury German automaker in the country, after the EQB and EQS.
The powertrain setup of the Mercedes EQE 500 consists of a dual-motor, AWD (all-wheel-drive) layout and a 90.56kWh battery pack. The electric SUV offers a claimed WLTP-certified range of 550km. To further enhance convenience, it is being offered with an 11kW AC charger while supporting rapid DC fast charging at up to 170kW. The electric motors generate a formidable 408hp and a substantial 858Nm of torque. The EQE can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in a claimed time of just 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 210 kmph. Moreover, drivers can select from three levels of regeneration, easily adjustable via paddle shifters located conveniently behind the steering wheel. Notably, Mercedes provides a 10-year warranty on the vehicle’s battery.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4MATIC electric SUV embodies the sleek and distinctive design language seen across the brand’s electric vehicle lineup, characterized by its elegant lines and clean curves. Some of its notable design elements include a closed-off front grille, aerodynamic 20-inch wheels, and more. It has air suspension with a 25mm ride height adjustment capability, ensuring a comfortable ride experience. In terms of dimensions, the electric SUV measures 4,863mm in length, stands at 1,685mm in height, and features a substantial wheelbase spanning 3,030mm.
Inside, the Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 SUV has a 56-inch ‘Hyperscreen’ dashboard with three connected screens, all protected by tempered glass. These screens serve multiple purposes, from displaying essential driving information on the driver’s display to offering entertainment through the passenger display and central infotainment unit. The electric SUV also comes with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter ensuring clean cabin air, a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, and front seat massage functions.
