‘Willingness to learn is a choice’: R Ashwin practices spin bowling at NCA

NEW DELHI: Seasoned Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin engaged in spin practice using the white ball at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Ashwin took to X, previously known as Twitter, on Friday to share a video and pictures of his practice session alongside NCA chief VVS Laxman and former spinner Sairaj Bahutule.

“My kinda day. The capacity to learn is a gift.

The ability to learn is a skill. However, the willingness to learn is a CHOICE. #cricketlife Thank you for the help @SairajBahutule @VVSLaxman281,” tweeted Ashwin.

In 113 one-day internationals (ODIs), Ashwin has been a valuable asset for India, amassing 151 wickets at an average of 33.49. His best ODI bowling performance stands at 4/25.
Ashwin’s most recent ODI appearance for India was in January of the previous year against South Africa. Prior to that, he had not played an ODI since 2017.
Ashwin also made his mark in the T20 International format, representing India in 65 matches and securing 72 wickets. His best T20I bowling figures are 4/8. His last T20I appearance was in November 2022, during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against England.

Notably, Ashwin has continued to shine in Test cricket, establishing himself as one of India’s all-time greats. He has taken a remarkable total of 489 wickets and contributed 3,185 runs in 94 Test matches.
His Test record includes five centuries and 14 fifties, making him a valuable all-rounder in the longest format of the game. Ashwin’s most recent Test appearance was during India’s tour of West Indies in 2023.
