Washington Sundar will be joining the Indian team in Colombo as a cover for Axar Patel. The southpaw suffered a couple of blows while batting against Bangladesh on Friday night and needed medical help on a couple of occasions.

With Axar’s participation in the final unclear, India have decided to fly in Washington Sundar. The all-rounder is part of India’s Asian Games bound squad and will link up with the team later in the day.
Washington’s inclusion isn’t surprising as against a Sri Lanka batting unit that has a couple of left-handers at the top, his off-breaks will come handy and he can also be used in the first powerplay overs.
Coming at No 8, Axar scored 42 off 34 deliveries in a knock that included three boundaries and two sixes. But during the knock, he suffered two blows, one to his fingers and on his left hand.
