BTS’ Suga bids emotional goodbye to fans before joining military, Jin and J-Hope send ‘strength’ | Music News

Suga from BTS had a heartfelt interaction with fans during a live Weverse session before his upcoming military service, which is set to begin on September 22. The singer reassured fans that during his absence, they can enjoy his drinking show, Suchwita, and asked them “not to cry,” as he plans to reunite with them after completing his military service in 2025.

During the session, Suga appeared with a shorter hairstyle, and he humorously mentioned that even the staff had trouble recognizing him. “Hello, it’s nice to see you. It’s me, Suga. I cut my hair a bit. My hair is very short, right? I can’t get used to it too. The staff could not recognise me,” he said. He explained his recent low profile by stating that after wrapping up his Agust D tour in Seoul, he took some time to rest and spend quality time with his family and fellow BTS members. “After the concert, I was only resting for about 2 weeks cause I had body pain. So I was resting a lot. I spent the remaining time with my family,” he said.

Suga also mentioned that although he won’t be able to continue Suchwita during his military service, he has filmed a lot of content for the show that fans can look forward to in the future. “I can’t do Suchwita anymore. But I filmed a lot! Please look forward to it,” he said.

As he concluded the live session, Suga left fans with comforting words, saying, “I’d be lying if I say (I’ll return) soon. So let’s meet in 2025.” He reassured fans not to cry and reminded them of their promise to reunite in 2025.

BTS members J-Hope and Seok Jin also sent strength and love to Suga. Hobi, who recently took a break from the military, commented, “Watching the live before I submit my phone. The hair suits you well.” Jin quipped, “Hey J-Hope I was wondering where did he go while I was texting.. he was here.” Showing support to Suga, SJ said, “Yoongi-ya, have strength! I’m cheering for you.”

In South Korea, all able-bodied men aged 18-28 are required to serve in the military for about two years. All BTS members had been allowed to put off starting their military service until they turned 30. SUGA turned 30 on March 9. BTS — also comprising RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook — hopes to reunite as a group around 2025 following their service commitment.
