The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s plea challenging summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against him in a money laundering case, news agency PTI reported.
The apex court asked him to approach the High Court in the matter. As Soren’s plea was scheduled for hearing on Monday, the ED once again issued fresh summonsasking him to appear on September 23, it is learnt.

In November 2022, Soren had appeared before the ED in connection with the Sahebganj ‘Rs 1000 crore’ illegal mining case in which his confidante and assembly representative Pankaj Mishra was arrested.

Soren was then summoned for the second time in August this year, however, according to The Indian Express report, it was not clear for which case. Referring to the call by the agency as “actuated by malice” and a part of a political conspiracy to destabilise a democratically elected government, he had then written to the agency to withdraw the summons, failing which he would seek legal remedies.
ED is investigating several cases in Jharkhand under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
