Jawan box office collection day 13: Shah Rukh Khan film to pass Rs 900 crore globally, just days away from overtaking Pathaan | Bollywood News

On its 13th day of release, Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster Jawan passed the Rs 500 crore gross mark at the domestic box office, and that too in record time. It took Shah Rukh’s previous hit, the record-breaking Pathaan, a full 18 days to pass this milestone. Jawan has now grossed Rs 507 crore in India. It made an estimated Rs 14 crore on day 13, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, taking its domestic nett total to Rs 458 crore.

Jawan will now challenge Pathaan’s all-time record of Rs 543 crore, which it should overtake in a matter of days. Globally, Pathaan grossed over Rs 1000 crore, while Jawan will pass the Rs 900 crore gross mark today. Combined, both movies have grossed nearly Rs 2000 crore, and individually, they’ve made Shah Rukh the only Bollywood actor to deliver two $100 million-grossers in a single calendar year.

Jawan, directed by Atlee and co-starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, has been breaking (mostly Pathaan’s) records ever since its release. The film set new benchmarks for the biggest opening day and the biggest opening week, and became the fastest Bollywood film to pass the Rs 100 crore, Rs 200 crore, Rs 300 crore, Rs 400 crore, and now the Rs 500 crore milestones. Jawan also set the record for the biggest single-day collection for a Bollywood movie (Rs 80 crore on its first Sunday).

In the next few days, it’ll pass the lifetime domestic collections of films such as Gadar 2 and Pathaan; and after having overtaken KGF: Chapter 2’s lifetime Hindi haul, it will also pass the Hindi collections of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Jawan has also made Rs 50 crore in the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, and has grossed over $35 million (nearly Rs 300 crore) from overseas markets, with over $12 million coming from the US.

The success of big films such as Pathaan, Jawan, Gadar 2, and also family dramas such as Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Satyaprem Ki Katha, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani have brought Bollywood to past, pre-pandemic era glory after years of uncertainty.
