At the InfoComm 2023 event that was held in June, Samsung unveiled a new lineup of digital signage displays called The Wall for Virtual Production, and the first model in this series is called the IVC. Back then, the company made the display available in North America. Now, Samsung has announced that the IVC in The Wall for Virtual Production lineup is available to purchase in Europe too, and the brand is displaying the product at the IBC 2023 event in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from September 15 to 18.
The IVC display in The Wall for Virtual Production series is made for creating a virtual production stage, where a number of displays are arranged vertically and horizontally to create a wall of display panels. The production studios can then display an image or a video or use real-time 3D engines to show content on these displays to create photorealistic sets. They can then place physical objects as well as people in front of these displays to create a realistic-looking environment and content, such as movies or TV shows.

The IVC model in The Wall for Virtual Production uses the Micro LED technology and comes in two options: P1.68 and P2.1. Both options have a 4:9 aspect ratio and a curvature range of up to 5,800R. The display supports three dedicated studio frame rates: 23.976Hz, 29.97Hz, and 59.94Hz. The maximum refresh rate is 12,288Hz, which “minimizes flicker lines and ensures a clear outcome, regardless of the camera used during filming.” There’s also genlocking onboard, which can synchronize the screen with a camera’s video signal.
According to the company, the IVC has a maximum brightness of 1,500 nits, a fixed contrast ratio of 35,000:1, and a 170-degree viewing angle. The display supports 20-bit color processing and features Black Seal Technology+ that “delivers the purest black levels for new depth. Users will experience unparalleled contrast that is specifically designed to be resilient to the dust and particles common in production environments.” Samsung hasn’t announced the price of the IVC. However, expect it to cost a fortune.
