Actor Akhil Mishra died on Tuesday in an accident; he was 67. His wife Suzanne Bernert confirmed the news to indianexpress.com but was in no condition to speak.

A friend close to the couple shared exclusively with the indianexpress.com that the actor was unwell for some time due to blood pressure-related issues. He was on a stool in the kitchen trying to do something, when he reportedly fell down and hurt his head. He was found bleeding and injured, and was rushed to the hospital. Even after efforts by the doctors, he could not survive and died after a few hours.

Suzanne Bernert was in Hyderabad shooting for a project when she was informed about the accident. She rushed back and has been in shock since then. Actor Manoj Bajpayee condoled his death and wrote, “Rest in peace Akhil Mishra Ji! This is unbelievably shocking! May god bless your soul with peace & tranquility!! Om Shanti.”

Akhil Mishra played the librarian, Dubey, in 3 Idiots and had some comic scenes in the film. He has also been part of films like Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Well Done Abba, Calcutta Mail and Shah Rukh Khan’s Don. On television, he has been part of shows like Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se, Uttaran, Pardes Mein Mila Koi Apna and Shrimaan Shrimati among others.

German actor Suzanne Bernert, who was last seen in The Accidental Prime Minister, recently spoke about how her husband Akhil Mishra put his career on hold to help her learn Hindi, so that she could get better roles in films.

She told India Forums, “All the characters that I played were foreigners who needed an accent. Fluency suddenly became an issue with my show Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, as I needed to be perfect, and my husband gave all his time and put his career on hold to help me on a daily basis to speak shudh Hindi.”
