Speakers including rights activists in a rally on Friday demanded implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts accord.
They made the demand in the fourth divisional solidarity rally in Sylhet with a slogan ‘building coordinated mass movement to implement the CHT accord’ organised by CHT Accord Implementation Movement, said a press release.
Addressing the rally as the chief guest, human rights activist Sultana Kamal called on all to unite for implementing the CHT agreement.
‘It is not just the problem of ethnic minorities, we all have to stand united against those who break the agreements,’ she said.
Bangladesh Jasad general secretary Nazmul Haque Pradhan and its joint general secretary Rajekuzzaman Ratan, Association for Land Reform and Development executive director Shamsul Huda, Sammilito Samajik Andolan executive president and Dhaka University professor Robaet Ferdous, Jatiya Shramik Jote president Saifuzzaman Badsha and CHT Accord Implementation Movement’s joint Coordinator Zakir Hossain, among others, also spoke the event.
The CHT Accord Implementation Movement convener Lokman Ahmed presided over the rally.
The CHT Accord Implementation Movement, a platform formed with demand for the full implementation of the CHT Accord, organised the other three divisional rallies in Chattogram, Rangpur and Mymensingh.
