Assembly adjourned indefinitely, demands Rs 12,000 crore from central government

Shimla (Kuldeep): In the 7-day long monsoon session of Himachal Pradesh Assembly, the ruling party appeared to be superior to the opposition from the very first day. With the aim of cornering the government, the opposition brought an adjournment motion on the very first day regarding the damage caused by the natural disaster, but the government resolution under Rule 102 on behalf of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu overshadowed it. Even though the opposition walked out of the House in protest on this issue, it was forced to discuss the issue only under the government proposal. By passing this resolution in the House, a demand was made from the Central Government to give a package of Rs 12,000 crore to Himachal Pradesh to deal with the disaster. The ruling party showed a mirror to the opposition by placing on the table the white paper brought by the committee constituted under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agrihotri.

The government tried to convey through the white paper that due to the wrong financial management of the previous government, today Himachal Pradesh has reached the fifth position in the list of states taking more loans. Due to this, every child born today has a loan of Rs 1,02,818 and the government will have to repay the loan of Rs 9,048 crore in the year 2023-24. Under the leadership of Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, the opposition tried to surround the House during the Corona period in the name of outsourced employees and amendment bills and left the House 5 times. Once the opposition reached near Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania’s seat, a censure motion was passed by the ruling party in protest against it.

Apart from this, he met law students and school children to watch the proceedings of the Assembly and informed them about the legislative work. In this way the proceedings of the House continued for 36 hours 38 minutes. Despite the post of Deputy Speaker of the Assembly being vacant, he himself conducted the proceedings most of the time.

The atmosphere was hot inside and outside the house
The atmosphere remained heated both inside and outside the house. While inside the Assembly, the parties and opposition were seen clashing with each other on issues related to public interest, during the Corona period, outsourced employees, mid-day meal workers, Zilla Parishad employees, candidates appearing for examinations under various post codes were seen fighting for their demands. The giving youth and on the last day the BJP legislature party opened a front against the government.
