On September 25, the final match of Asian Games 2023 was played between the Indian women’s team and Sri Lanka women’s team (IND W vs SL W). After winning the toss, Harmanpreet Kaur decided to bat first, which proved to be in favor of the team. Batting first, the Indian team scored 116 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. In reply, the Sri Lankan team could score only 97 runs and lost the match by 19 runs. At the same time, by winning the match (IND W vs SL W), the Indian women’s team won the gold medal in the Asian Games 2023.

IND W vs SL W: Smriti-Jemima Rodrigues played a stormy innings

Team India came to bat first after losing the toss (IND W vs SL W) Opener Shefali Verma could not get a good start. She was out after scoring 9 runs in 15 balls. But the second opener Smriti Mandhana stood at one end and handled the team’s innings and made a half-century partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues. However, Sri Lankan women bowler Inoka Ranaweera broke this partnership by dismissing Smriti Mandhana on a personal score of 46 runs.

Smriti had a partnership of 80 runs with Jemimah Rodrigues. Jemimah Rodrigues returned to the pavilion after scoring 42 runs. Apart from these two, no other batsman batted. Harmanpreet Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar played an inning of two runs each. Richa Ghosh, Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur scored 9 runs, 1 run and 1 run respectively. In reply, Sri Lankan team also could not do anything special in batting. Although Hasini Perera and Neelakshi De Silva tried to take the team beyond the threshold of victory, but both of them could not get the support of other players. Hasini Perera was out after scoring 25 runs and Neelakshi de Silva was out after scoring 23 runs.

Captain Chamari Atapattu scored only 12 runs. Oshadi Ranasinghe recorded 19 runs in his account. Apart from these, no batsman could even touch the double digit figure. Titas Sadhu took three wickets for India. Rajeshwari Gaikwad took two wickets. Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar and Devika Vaidya took one wicket each.
