Indian Air Force History Explained; Pakistan Kashmir Pathankot Base | IAF Hari Singh Indian Air Force is turning 91, story of 8 unique missions

It was the evening of 3 December 1971. Shift change was taking place in the Indian Air Force. Then Pakistani Air Force simultaneously attacked 11 airbases of India. Pakistani General Tikka Khan had launched ‘Operation Genghis Khan’.

India was stunned by the sudden attack. Despite this, by 9 pm, fighter jets of the Indian Air Force retaliated by entering Pakistan and destroying 8 airbases including Tejgaon, Kurmitola.

The history of the Indian Air Force in the last 91 years is full of stories of such bravery. The British formed the Indian Air Force on 8 October 1932. A grand air show has been organized in Bhopal before the 91st anniversary. There will also be an airshow in Prayagraj on 8th October.
