It has been revealed that Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy will be contesting as an MLA from the Paleru Constituency, which is located near Khammam, in the upcoming elections.
Following his decision to wear the Congress scarf, various social programs and spiritual gatherings have been organized in his honor. Ponguleti’s brother, Prasada Reddy, and camp office in-charge Tumburu Dayakar Reddy are actively managing activities in Palair.
Historically, Paleru constituency was a stronghold of former minister and senior leader Thummala Nageswara Rao, but Thummala, who has now joined Congress, is expressing interest in contesting from the Khammam Assembly seat.
Congress has given its approval for Thummala to contest from Khammam after considering the wishes of his fans and followers. Moreover, it aligns with his social constituency in Khammam.
The Congress leadership strongly believes that Thummala is the most formidable candidate to face Puvvada Ajay, the incumbent minister. This decision has paved the way for Ponguleti to contest from Palair.
The Delhi high command also sees the solid vote bank of the Reddy community in Palair as a strong asset for Congress.
Reliable sources have indicated that both Tummala and Ponguleti’s names will be included in the first list of candidates. Additionally, the first list will feature candidates for four other assembly seats in the joint Khammam district.
