Due to these two reasons, HMRTC has made changes in this plan. According to the new plan, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) has about 13.5 acres of land in Sector 33 between Subhash Chowk and Hero Honda Chowk. There is no dispute of any kind on this land.
What’s special in the plan now?
This land is reserved for open space in the Gurugram-Manesar layout plan. In such a situation, a metro depot can be constructed on this land. By doing this, there will be no need to extend the metro line to Dwarka Expressway, which will reduce the estimate amount. According to the previous plan of HMRTC, the 27.5 km long metro route is to cost Rs 5452.72 crore.
Discussion took place in the meeting
Recently, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary of Town and Country Planning Department, Arun Kumar Gupta regarding the matter of metro route change. Director General of Town and Country Planning Department TL Satyaprakash, HSVP Chief Administrator Ajit Balaji Joshi, GMDA CEO PC Meena, HMRTC Director Karan Singh, Principal Consultant SD Sharma, Planning Advisor N Mehtani were present.
Can a metro depot be built in open space?
HMRTC officials have mentioned in the meeting that the open space can be used for a metro depot. Haryana Government has the powers to change this plan. The Additional Chief Secretary of the Town and Country Planning Department has ordered the subordinate officers to prepare a proposal for the change of metro depot put forward by HMRTC and send it to the headquarters after examining it. No commercial activities will be allowed in this depot, this should be written in the proposal. Permission should be taken from HSVP to transfer the open space land in the name of HMRTC.
