Google Assistant with Bard coming to Galaxy devices soon

Yesterday, Google held the Made By Google event in New York. The highlight of this event was the launch of the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro smartphones, which compete directly with the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, the company also took the stage to announce Assistant with Bard, a personal assistant powered by generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). Think of Assistant with Bard as Google Assistant combined with Google Bard. According to Google, it will be available on Android and iOS in the coming months.

Assistant with Bard can do many things for you. For example, if you say “Catch me up on any important emails I’ve missed this week,” the personal assistant can access your Gmail, recognise which emails are important, list out those emails, and even summarise each email in a bullet point. In another instance, if you take a photo using a social media app to post it on the platform, but can’t think of a caption, you can ask Assistant with Bard to do the work for you, and it will analyse the image and come up with a social media-worthy caption.

Assistant with Bard on Android

From what we could understand from the launch event and the press release, Assistant with Bard will come pre-loaded with Android devices and it will also be available as an app on the Google Play Store. More importantly, it will work at a system level on the platform, just like how Google Assistant works on your Galaxy smartphone at the moment. Assistant with Bard will be able to work with Google’s applications and services for the OS, such as Drive, Gmail, and Maps, with the help of Bard Extensions.

Assistant with Bard on iOS

On iOS, Assistant with Bard will be available as an app. Plus, it will be integrated into applications from Google for iPhones, such as Chrome, Photos, and YouTube. In this way, the personal assistant can help you carry out multiple types of tasks across all the applications from Google on your iPhone. Since Assistant with Bard cannot be integrated at a system level on iOS, it might not be able to carry out as many types of tasks on iPhone as it will be able to on Android devices. Still, it will be a very useful tool.
