Much awaited movie Rules Ranjan starring Kiran Abbavaram and Neha Shetty. Ratnam Krishna, son of famous producer AM Ratnam, directed the film. Produced by Murali Krishna Vemuri and Divyang Lavania under the Star Light Entertainment banner. This movie is completely entertaining and is going to hit the screens on October 6. In this context, director Ratnam Krishna, who spoke to reporters on Thursday, shared many features related to the film.
As a director, what is the reason for making so few films with such a gap?
I got a good reputation as a director for the films I made. But their father owns a big production house. I did not get many opportunities because others thought that he would make films for them outside. Even if some heroes hear stories, they say let’s do it in your own production house. Also, in between, I took care of the production responsibilities of many films produced by my father. I could not do more films as a director due to many reasons.
What causes oxygen film to misfire?
Oxygen is a good movie. Due to its late and sporadic release, it did not reach the Telugu audience as much as it wanted. But even though it is a Telugu movie, on the day of its release, about 50 phone calls came from Chennai saying that the movie was good. After that, if it was dubbed in Tamil and released, it got a good response. They don’t know about Gopichand and his image. They saw the story like a story.. They liked it. Even in Telugu, after seeing the movie Oxygen on TV, many called and said it was good.
Reason for choosing comedy genre for Rules Ranjan?
Oxygen film is the reason. When the movie was previewed, the media persons were laughing at the comedy scenes in it but not paying attention to the serious scenes. Then I realized that entertainment is the selling point. The audience also wants to be entertained. That is why now I have done an out and out entertainer with Rules Ranjan. The first half will be full of youth and the second half will be a family entertainer. The whole movie is entertaining and laugh-out-loud.
How did Kiran get into this project?
I became a big fan of Naveen Polishetty after seeing the ethnic gems. I actually tried to tell him this story but could not. At the same time some of my friends S.R. After seeing the movie Kalyana Mandapam, he suggested Kiran’s name. But since Kiran is already committed to many things, they thought that he could not do this film with me. But after hearing the story, he liked it so much that he will make the film. I also waited for him and completed the film. Kiran is a good creator. Both of us synced well.
Has your father seen the movie?
Saw the rough cut. Before that, Kiran’s friends and my friends all watched the Rush version together. Even though it was a rush version, all the friends were laughing watching the movie. Everyone liked the movie. Father and younger brother (Ravikrishna) also felt very happy after watching the movie. We are all happy with the film.

This level of response was not expected at all, she said. After seeing the response of the re-release, now Dad has put his full focus on the sequel of 7G Brindavan Colony. They said that the shooting will start from next month.
