One UI 6.0 beta is now live for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in the UK

Last updated: October 7th, 2023 at 11:07 UTC+02:00

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 now has access to the One UI 6.0 beta program in select markets. Yesterday, we reported that the beta program went live for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in the USA and India, but more countries are now joining. The One UI 6.0 beta firmware is also available for prospective testers in the UK.

Same as yesterday, the update for the UK has firmware version ZWJ2. According to a screenshot shared by an XDA-Developers user, the update also includes the October 2023 security patch. It weighs roughly 2.7GB, which is certainly on the large side, even for a new version of One UI.

Galaxy Z Fold 5 users in the UK should now be able to enroll in the One UI 6.0 beta program through the Samsung Members app. Before you do, you may want to learn more about Samsung’s beta programs and some of the risks associated with participating in beta testing.

One UI 6.0 might go public this year

Samsung hasn’t set a date for the public release of One UI for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 or otherwise. But the company formally announced One UI 6.0 at SDC23 earlier this week, and everyone expects the first public build to roll out before the end of the year. The Galaxy S23 series will probably be the first to receive the update, given that it’s been tested for the longest time, but the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 shouldn’t fall far behind the slab-type flagship.

One UI 6.0 brings too many changes to count them all here, but some of the more important ones include a redesigned Quick Panel, a new system-wide font called One UI Sans, a better music playback widget, improved pop-up window, simplified home screen icon labels, a new emoji design for Samsung keyboard, a more useful content sharing screen, updates to the Weather app and widget, numerous improvements to the Camera and Gallery apps, and many other goodies.
